I am a qualified and experienced proofreader and copy-editor, who trained with the  Publishing Training Centre at Book House  in London.

Working as a freelance since 1997, I am experienced in proofreading, rewriting & copy-editing.   As a Website designer I can, of course, edit Web sites for other designers.

I specialize in psychology, I.T., company marketing literature, texts written by non-native speakers of English and rewriting for children. I have experience of working on educational publications at both primary, secondary and degree levels. I have a working knowledge of French and am familiar with legal terminology and the Welsh language.

Having scribed and read for dyslexic pupils in exam situations, I can also proofread their assignments, dissertations etc - there may be funding to cover the cost.

I have also copy-edited books directly from authors, many of which have been published.

Latterly I have been proofreading books upon their conversion from printed matter to e books (such as Amazon Kindle, iPad and i River Story). As I have my own Kindle and iPad, files can be emailed to me and the work started immediately!

Rates:
These are based on NUJ rates and dependent upon complexity of material.

Proofreading: £20.25 per hour (8-12 pages per hour)
E book proofreading: £20.50 per hour

Copy-editing (paper): £21.80 per hour (6-8 pages per hour)
On-screen copy-editing: from £23.65 per hour (6-8 pages per hour)

Substantial Editing & Rewriting: from £27.30 per hour (30-60 minutes per page)
